Intl junior tennis tournament kicks off in Jiaxing

The 2023 International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 opened on Aug 20 in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province.

Tennis players from China, Britain, the United States, Japan, Australia, Mongolia, Serbia and many other countries will compete for personal points in the next week.

This is also the first time in three years Jiaxing has held such a high-level international event. Many participants of the Asian Games also participated in it.

The ITF Junior U18 Tennis Tour is a transitional event from junior to professional tournaments. The event is divided into qualifiers and main draws. Participants for the qualifiers must enter the top eight to qualify for the main draw and get corresponding points.

The event is authorized by the ITF and hosted by the Chinese Tennis Association. There are 11 stops this year, three of which have already been held in Jingshan, Wuhan, and Shenzhen. Jiaxing is the fourth stop. Future stops include Nanjing, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and more.

The competition also features many players from Jiaxing. Xia Jinshu is a participant in the main draw, while Pan Yinhuan and Lu Zhanzhuo are participants in the qualifiers.

Maralgoo Chogsomjav from Mongolia is 18 years old. She and another player will participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games. She signed up for the ITF Junior U18 Tennis Tour to get more points and practice. She said that Jiaxing is a beautiful city and people are very friendly. She also said the city seems very excited for the Asian Games.
