The second U15 World School Summer Games recently kicked off in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In the breakdance event, He Ruinan, a 14-year-old boy from Tongxiang, a county-level city of Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, made the city's history by winning two medals: a silver medal in the mixed doubles event and a bronze medal in the men's event.
The U15 World School Summer Games are hosted by the International School Sport Federation and are the most prestigious comprehensive sporting event for junior high school students worldwide. They are held every two years.
He Ruinan, who studies at the Kangmin Campus of Tongxiang No 6 Middle School Education Group, has been studying street dance for six years.
On school days, he spends more than two hours a day practicing. On holidays, he spends half a day in the dance room. He practices a movement hundreds or even thousands of times until becoming proficient, but he never complains or gives up.
Over the years, He has participated in nearly a hundred competitions and won dozens of championships.
Breakdance has become more and more popular among young people since it was designated as an official event for the Hangzhou Asian Games and Paris Olympics.
In an interview last year, He Ruinan said, "I want to join the national team and participate in the Asian Games. And in the future, I want to represent the Chinese national team on the podium of the Olympic Games and Asian Games!”
