Jiaxing athletes ready for Hangzhou Asian Games
The Chinese sports delegation for the Hangzhou Asian Games was established in Beijing on Sept 12. The delegation has a total of 1,329 members, of which 886 are athletes, including 437 female athletes and 449 male athletes.
The average age of the athletes is 25. During the competition, they will participate in 38 major events, excluding kabaddi and cricket.
Among participating athletes, 36 are Olympic champions, including table tennis player Ma Long, swimmers Zhang Yufei and Wang Shun, track and field athletes Gong Lijiao and Liu Shiying, badminton players Chen Yufei and Huang Dongping, shooter Jiang Ranxin, canoeing athletes Xu Shixiao and Sun Mengya, and fencer Sun Yiwen.
Jiaxing will have six athletes competing on the field during the Games.
Among them, Pei Xinyi will participate in the women's weightlifting 64 kg competition, Li Dongyin will participate in the women's single kayak and kayak four (K4) events, Shi Yingying will compete in the women's 12-person dragon boat 200-meter, 500-meter and 1,000-meter straight-line speed races, Zhu Jin'er will take part in the women's team and individual chess events, Zhang Jianhui will attend the Peace Elite Asian Games version competition, and Wang Fan will participate in the women's beach volleyball event.
Since the Beijing Asian Games in 1990, Jiaxing has produced seven Asian Games champions and won 11 Asian Games gold medals.
