Athletes from various countries have been visiting fairs in Hangzhou Asian Games Village that showcase Zhejiang's traditional culture.

Xiashi lanterns and Haining shadow puppetry have been especially popular.

Xiashi lanterns have been included in the national representative list of intangible cultural heritage items. In the Asian Games Village, Xiashi lanterns themed on the Mid-Autumn Festival are on display. Athletes can also make their own small lanterns by hand.

Haining shadow puppetry is a traditional art form that uses leather puppets to perform stories behind a screen. It has also been included in the national representative list of intangible cultural heritage items and has a history of more than 800 years.

In the Asian Games Village, the Haining Shadow Art Troupe performed well-known stories such as Journey to the West and Turtle and Crane. Athletes can also learn to perform puppet shows or color puppets.

More exciting activities such as Xiashi lantern classes, Haining shadow puppet workshops, and Mid-Autumn Festival folk customs will be staged soon.
