The first gold medal of the Asian Games went to Chinese rowers Zou Jiaqi and Qiu Xiuping on Sept 24. The award ceremony costumes, designed by Professor Wu Haiyan from the China Academy of Art and produced by the Haining Home Textile Fashion Fabric Innovation Center, also made their public debut.

The medal dress and sportswear of Chinese athletes were also made in Haining.

Zhejiang Dewei Technology Co Ltd, located in Haichang sub-district, was the only knitted chemical fiber fabric enterprise in Zhejiang province to provide sportswear fabric for the Chinese team.

The company has long focused on developing and producing various kinds of knitted and functional fabrics and is a well-known supplier of sports fabrics around the world.

The company also produced fabric for 600,000 sets of torchbearer sportswear for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and some of the indoor award and staff clothing fabric for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

"We are very excited and proud to provide technological fabrics for the Chinese sports delegation. We hope that Haining-made clothing can shine a spotlight on Chinese athletes," said Hu Xiaochun, the company's business manager.
