Jiaxing sees boom in tourism during 8-day holiday

During the eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, Jiaxing received 4.53 million visitors, an increase of 143.27 percent year-on-year and generating 2.49 billion yuan ($345 million) in tourism revenue, a surge of 153.86 percent compared to 2022.
Nanhu Scenic Area, the most popular tourist attraction in the city, celebrated the two festivals with various cultural activities, receiving 348,800 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 178.95 percent.
The proportion of overnight visitors in the city reached 40.5 percent, up by 7.3 percentage points. The average consumption per visitor was about 550 yuan, an uptick of 5.36 percent year-on-year.
Tours to ancient towns were also popular during this period. Wuzhen, Xitang, Puyuan and other ancient towns received a total of 1.37 million visitors, accounting for 30.28 percent of the total number of visitors to scenic spots in the city.
In addition, rural tourism saw steady growth during the holiday. The city's 89 scenic villages at the 3A level or above received 1.03 million tourists in total, accounting for 22.8 percent of the total tourists and creating a total tourism income of 55.49 million yuan.
