The women's 12-person dragon boat team of China, including Jiaxing's Shi Yingying, won the gold medal in the 1,000-meter straight race at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games on Oct 6.
This was the third gold medal for the Chinese women's dragon boat team and the 7th gold medal for Jiaxing athletes at this year's Asian Games.
Shi Yingying and her teammates won gold medals in the 200-meter and 500-meter straight race for the 12-person women's dragon boat team in Hangzhou on Oct 4 and Oct 5.
The final day of the dragon boat event fell on the morning of Oct 6, which featured a thrilling showdown between China, Indonesia, and Thailand. Despite the rain, the spectators cheered enthusiastically for the athletes on both sides of the river. The Chinese team paddled with skill and courage, and finished with a time of 4 minutes and 51.44 seconds, beating their rivals by a large margin.
In the men's final, the Chinese team was overtaken by the Indonesian team in the last 100 meters and took home a silver medal.
The dragon boat event was a highlight of the Hangzhou Asian Games, showcasing the traditional culture and sports spirit of China and other Asian countries.
