Jiaxing company shines in 'Belt and Road'
The third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was held on Oct 17 and 18. At the sub-forum, China Jushi Co Ltd, a Jiaxing-based company, held a performance, showing how it participated in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The performance is based on the story of a Sino-Egyptian joint laboratory, where Chinese and Egyptian employees of China Jushi Egypt Glass Fiber Co Ltd worked together to solve technical problems in glass fiber research and development.
The Chinese expert guided the Egyptian apprentice to overcome the bottleneck through heuristic methods, demonstrating how Chinese enterprises adapted to local conditions and delivered the most advanced glass fiber production technology to Egypt, making it the fourth largest glass fiber producer in the world and promoting the local industrial chain.
The Sino-Egyptian joint laboratory is one of 50 key laboratories built in Belt and Road countries. It was established in Egypt in 2018, focusing on cooperation research and the development of major key technologies in glass fiber and composite materials, and carrying out work such as landing glass fiber standards in Egypt, technical exchanges, talent training and external testing technology services.
In 2020, the laboratory was approved by China's Ministry of Science and Technology as a conventional science and technology assistance project for developing countries.
China Jushi Egypt Glass Fiber Co Ltd is China’s largest investment project in the manufacturing sector in Egypt so far. Over the course of 10 years, Jushi Egypt's total designed production capacity has reached 320,000 metric tons, with a total investment of $1 billion, directly creating more than 2,000 jobs in the local area.
