The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. As an open coastal city, Jiaxing has actively been taking part in the BRI. The city's trade cooperation with countries and regions involved in the BRI has also achieved remarkable results.

According to Jiaxing Customs, the value of Jiaxing's exports countries involved in the BRI has grown from 33.61 billion yuan ($4.59 billion) in 2013 to 105.09 billion yuan in 2022. From January to September, the city's exports to these countries were valued at 89.65 billion yuan.

Many Jiaxing companies have seized the opportunities brought about by the BRI and explored new markets and products.

For example, Perfectcompanion Group, a pet food company, has exported its pet food products to the Philippines, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and other countries involved in the BRI, winning praise and favor from many overseas consumers.

Another example is Zhejiang Transfar Synthetic Materials Co Ltd, a company specializing in butadiene rubber production, processing and trade. Benefiting from the BRI and the increase in demand for new materials in overseas markets, the company's exports have achieved year-on-year growth.

Its products are currently exported to Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia and other countries and regions involved in the BRI. In 2022, the company exported 37,000 metric tons of goods to ASEAN, an increase of 40 percent year-on-year.
