The sixth CIIE opened in Shanghai on Nov 5.

The Comprehensive Country Exhibition, an important part of the CIIE resumed this year, with 69 countries and three international organizations participating in the exhibition. It offers a platform for participating countries to showcase their areas of strength and quality resources, and carry out trade and investment promotion activities.

The China Pavilion at the Comprehensive Country Exhibition is the largest in history, with an exhibition area of 2,500 square meters and displaying the latest achievements of China's opening up and development.

Among the exhibits, two intangible cultural heritage items attracted attention. One was Wuzhen bamboo weaving from Jiaxing and the other was Suzhou silk from Suzhou.

Wuzhen bamboo weaving is a traditional folk handicraft with a history of more than 500 years. It is made with bamboo through pure hand weaving.

The Wuzhen bamboo weaving work displayed at the CIIE was made by Qian Lihuai, a Chinese bamboo weaving intangible cultural heritage inheritor. He designed a sculpture work featuring a snake with bamboo and used elements of snakes, Taihu stones and diamonds to express the spirituality and symbolism of natural creations.

Jiaxing currently has 15 national intangible cultural heritage items, 70 provincial intangible cultural heritage items, and more than 300 municipal intangible cultural heritage items.
