Work on Phase III of the Yangtze River Delta (Jiaxing) Hydrogen Energy Innovation Center commenced in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province on Nov 28. The center aims to help make the Jiaxing Port Area home to a hydrogen industrial cluster with distinct advantages in terms of resources and technology.

The center covers an area of about 3.89 hectares and has an investment of 358 million yuan ($50.29 million). It will include a research and development center, exhibition facilities, and an employee service center, among other essential support structures.

Kuang Faqiang, general manager of Jiaxing Port Area Binhai Group Engineering Project Management Co Ltd, said the project is expected to be operational by May to June 2025.

The center is located within the hydrogen technology park, which is funded by Jiaxing Port Area government, the Yangtze Delta Region Research Institute of Tsinghua University and the Beijing Tsinghua Industrial R&D Institute. The park has already attracted several hydrogen enterprises, a sign that it is emerging as a significant hub for hydrogen-related research and development activities.
