Plans are in place for the building of an industrial park in Pomala, Indonesia, by Jiaxing-based Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co Ltd and Indonesia-based Rimau Group, according to local media reports.

"We plan to establish a lithium battery park, covering smelting, refining, precursor production, terminal products, and battery recycling," stated a leader from Huayou. 

He added that Pomala has rich nickel resources, and the project aims to use green power, introduce new energy enterprises, and construct roads, ports, and other infrastructure, ultimately establishing a world-class lithium battery park in Indonesia.

The project will also create many jobs for locals. "We are working on the approval and bidding processes for supporting facilities such as ports, roads and bridges," stated the leader.

Huayou, founded in 2002 and headquartered in Tongxiang, a county-level city of Jiaxing, is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the research and production of lithium battery materials and cobalt-related new materials.

Over the past two decades, Huayou has undertaken overseas projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia, Zimbabwe and Europe forming an integrated industrial structure of nickel, cobalt and lithium resources, green refining and lithium battery materials.

In addition, Huayou was recently recognized as a leading company among Zhejiang multinational enterprises.
