The former residence of Jin Yong held its opening ceremony in Haining, a county-level city of Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, on March 11.

Louis Cha Leung-yung, better known by his pen name of Jin Yong and hailed as the grandmaster of martial arts novels, created a host of unique characters within his rich martial arts world, offering profound insights into Chinese culture.

Located in Haining's Xinyuan village, the former residence of Jin Yong not only marks Jin's birth, but also serves as the root of Jin Studies and the continuation of the Cha family's cultural legacy.

Renovated in 1998 based on Jin's suggestions, the ancestral house has now undergone comprehensive refurbishment and preparation to honor Jin's patriotism and moral integrity.

Spanning 1,500 square meters, the renovated residence is divided into living and exhibition sections. The former recreates Jin Yong's living environment, while the latter collects a wealth of precious materials related to Jin from across the country, especially from Hong Kong, including manuscripts, works, original newspapers, and adapted films and television dramas.

Since its trial opening, the former residence has attracted a steady stream of visitors. Going forward, Haining will leverage the residence to deepen the promotion of Jin Yong culture, fostering cultural exchange and inspiring younger generations to uphold traditional Chinese values and contribute to national rejuvenation.
