Jiaxing in Zhejiang province and Bunbury in Australia, celebrated 24 years of sister-city ties with a virtual meeting for young entrepreneurs on May 15. The event, hosted by both city governments and facilitated via Zoom, aimed to foster dialogue and explore new business opportunities.

Entrepreneurs shared insights on sectors like advanced manufacturing, new energy, tourism, and technology, reflecting on their journey and discussing future prospects.

Pan Zhengqiang, a leader in the Jiaxing Young Entrepreneurs Association, highlighted innovation as a cornerstone for growth and stressed the importance of cross-border exchanges. Mat Lewis from the WA Creative Tech Innovation Hub echoed this sentiment, inviting more Jiaxing tech firms to Bunbury for collaborative ventures.

Deputy Mayor Dai Feng of Jiaxing emphasized the significance of the event in strengthening ties and promoting sustainable development through continuous communication and exchanges. Jaysen Miguel, Bunbury's mayor, expressed his anticipation for more such innovative dialogues and events to solidify the sister-city bond.

Jiaxing's rapid internationalization has led to trade relations with over 230 global regions, ranking it 31st among China's top economic cities. The partnership with Bunbury has evolved into a multifaceted collaboration, spanning trade, education, and culture, contributing to a network of sister-city relationships across Western Australia.
