Jiaxing had a strong showing at the 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair, showcasing a fusion of ancient town charm and vibrant intangible cultural heritage items.

The fair, held from May 23 to 27 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, spotlighted Jiaxing's exhibition area.

Wuzhen, a town with a history spanning over two millennia, has evolved into a national drama culture hub over the past 11 years, especially since the launch of the Wuzhen Theater Festival in 2013. The exhibition brought this culture to life with audio-visual materials and interactive magic shows, offering visitors a taste of Wuzhen's theatrical allure.

Jiaxing boasts a wealth of intangible cultural heritages. Demonstrating Jiaxing's rich cultural heritage and exquisite craftsmanship, the exhibition displayed a dazzling array of items, such as Haining's horse-face skirts and Tongxiang's bamboo weaving. Notably, Xucun village in Haining produced over 70 percent of the nation's horse-face skirts and is currently exporting them globally.

In addition, in the intangible cultural heritage food pavilion, fair attendees found traditional delicacies like Pinghu's preserved eggs and Wufangzhai's zongzi to be irresistible. In the arts and crafts pavilion, the Nanhu gaily-painted pleasure-boats, with their exquisite decorations and unique designs, reflected the microcosm of Jiaxing's shipbuilding history and the charm of Jiangnan's water town culture.

Jiaxing ZMAX Optech, a representative of the city's brand enterprises, exhibited its technological prowess with innovative optical products, underscoring Jiaxing's leading position in tech innovation.
