Jiaxing forms new sister city partnership with Iksan, South Korea

Jiaxing, a city in Zhejiang province, has recently expanded its international relations by establishing a sister city relationship with Iksan, South Korea.
The agreement was officially signed on June 5 a ceremony attended by vice-mayors of the two cities.
Iksan, situated in the Jeollabuk-do province, is known for its ancient cultural roots and as a strategic transport and logistics center. It houses two national industrial parks, numerous heritage sites, and a number of prestigious universities, and is actively developing its food processing and green bio-industries.
The partnership between Jiaxing and Iksan is built on a foundation of long-standing friendly interactions, with Jiaxing being a hub for South Korean investment in Zhejiang.
The sister city relationship is intended to deepen exchanges and leverage each city's strengths to enhance economic, trade, and cultural ties.
Officials from both cities' departments of foreign affairs, education, science and technology, ecological environment, commerce, cultural tourism, health, and sports also participated in the event, signaling a comprehensive approach to the partnership.
