The Zhejiang division of the Discovered China Designers and Models Show, part of New York Fashion Week events, took place at the Zicheng Ruins Park in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province on July 28.
The event featured 20 designers and 60 models competing in a series of performances. Three designers and 10 models were selected from this show to participate in the China regional finals, which will be held in late August at the Puyuan Fashion Resort in Jiaxing.
This is the first deep-rooted cooperation between New York Fashion Week and the Chinese fashion industry. It serves as a rare international exchange for outstanding Chinese designers and models, and an important stage to showcase Chinese aesthetics and fashion trends to the world.
Zhang Xuanying, a teacher from the Jiaxing Vocational College, impressed the audience with her work at the event, hoping to convey the beauty of the East to the world. Her designs featured pure silk fabrics, hanfu-inspired one-piece cutting, and traditional paper-cutting elements, integrating many elements of traditional Chinese culture.
Jiaxing's fashion industry has seen strong development in recent years. The city currently boasts a comprehensive fashion industry covering textiles, clothing, and leather, and has established a complete industrial chain from raw material processing to production design, brand management, and sales channels.
