The Wuzhen Midsummer Night Performance Season opened on July 27 with the classic play Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land, starring Huang Lei, He Jiong, and Sun Li, at the Wuzhen Grand Theater. After the performance, the actors shared behind-the-scenes stories, officially kicking off the season.

Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land, a renowned play by Stan Lai, intertwines a modern tragedy and an ancient comedy on the same stage due to a theater management error. The play has remained popular since its 1986 premiere, with the 2006 version being the longest-running and beloved by theater enthusiasts.

After the first performance, the lead actors reminisced about their connections with the play, saying that the troupe feels like a big family. Huang shared his joy at performing in Wuzhen, likening it to coming home. He highlighted the unique intimacy of the Wuzhen Grand Theater, where even the farthest audience members feel close to the stage.

The Wuzhen Midsummer Night Performance Season will feature four diverse plays from July 27 to Aug 18, with a total of 12 performances. Huang hopes that Wuzhen will become a regular destination for theater lovers, as it offers a unique and dreamlike experience.
