Jiaxing's online retail soars in H1

Jiaxing saw a significant boost in online retail in the first half of 2024, reaching 91.89 billion yuan ($12.85 billion), a 12.7-percent increase compared to last year.

Sweaterpi, the first national cross-border trading platform for the sweater industry, was launched by Jiaxing in March. This platform uses various export methods to reduce financial risks and effectively connects supply and demand through independent websites. So far, 63 businesses have joined the platform, completing over 8.39 million orders worth 150 million yuan.

The city hosted over 50 resource matching and training events in the first half of this year, training nearly 5,500 professionals. Additionally, 27 enterprises participated in key cross-border e-commerce exhibitions, showcasing Jiaxing's robust industrial capabilities.

Jiaxing organized various e-commerce festivals, attracting 2 million viewers. The city also hosted the 2024 Zhejiang Live E-commerce Competition Jiaxing Selection, with four teams advancing to the provincial competition.

Focusing on traditional industries, Jiaxing also organized industrial livestreaming events to promote both online and offline integration.

The city currently has 30,000 active online retail stores and 337,000 e-commerce employees. Jiaxing's online retail sales for above-designated-size enterprises grew by 73.4 percent, boosting overall retail sales.

Jiaxing is also promoting e-commerce livestreaming workshops to support rural vitalization, creating 14,100 rural jobs with an average monthly income increase of 2,800 yuan.
