Bao Shu nominated for Best Short Story of Hugo Awards 2024
The 82nd World Science Fiction Convention in Glasgow announced the winners of the 2024 Hugo Awards on Aug 12. Naomi Kritzer's Better Living Through Algorithms won the Best Short Story award, while Jiaxing-born science fiction writer Bao Shu was nominated for his short story Tasting the Future Delicacy Three Times.
The Hugo Awards, often referred to as the "Nobel Prize of Science Fiction", are among the highest honors in the genre. Bao Shu expressed his congratulations to the winners, noting Kritzer's talent and the multiple translations of her works into Chinese.
Bao Shu's nominated work Tasting the Future Delicacy Three Times was included in a novel collection of the same name, which was published this month. He hopes to offer a soul-stirring reading experience to new readers.
Bao Shu, whose real name is Li Jun, grew up in Haiyan county, Jiaxing, Zhejiang. He graduated from Peking University and studied at KU Leuven in Belgium. Currently, he is a member of the Science Fiction Literature Committee of the China Writers Association.
His notable works include The Redemption of Time and Ruins of Time. His stories have been published in various magazines and journals, and he has won 12 Xingyun Awards for Global Chinese Science Fiction and four Galaxy Awards, with translations available in several languages.
