3 Jiaxing athletes set to compete in Paris Paralympics
Three athletes from Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, are set to compete in the 17th Paralympic Games in Paris from Aug 28 to Sept 8. Zhang Tianxin, Wu Limin, and Yu Li departed for Paris on Aug 21 as part of the Chinese sports delegation.

Zhang, a 26-year-old from Pinghu, will compete in the men's individual compound bow W1 and men's team compound bow W1 archery events. Zhang has excelled in archery since he first got involved in the sport in 2017. His dedication and talent have earned him numerous accolades, including a gold medal in the mixed team W1 event at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021 and double championships at the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou in 2023.

Wu is the goalkeeper for the Chinese Blind Football Team, whose matches will be held from Sept 1 to 7. China is grouped with France, Brazil, and Turkiye, with their first match against France set for Sept 2. Wu joined the Chinese Blind Football Team in 2021 and has achieved significant success since then, including winning the blind football championship at the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou in 2023.

Yu will compete in the PR3 mixed coxed four rowing event from Aug 30 to Sept 1. Yu, who lost both legs in a work accident at 22, turned to sports with the support of the local Disabled Persons' Federation. He represented China in the London and Rio Paralympics and won gold in rowing events at the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou and the 2nd Asian Para Games in Incheon.
