The 15th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, also known as Zhuhai Airshow, took place in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, from Nov 12 to 17, drawing global attention. A highlight of the event was Jiaxing pilot Chen Binyu, who impressed audiences with his flight performance.
Established in 1996, the Zhuhai Airshow is a prestigious international aviation and aerospace exhibition approved by the Central People's Government. It features static displays, trade talks, academic exchanges, flight demonstrations, and dynamic ground equipment presentations, making it one of the world's top five most influential airshows.
During this year's airshow, Chen, piloting a Zhi-8G helicopter, participated in a six-day display involving the hoisting of a Bobcat vehicle, each session lasting about 25 minutes.
Chen was born in 1988 in Yunlong village, Zhouwangmiao town, Haining, a county-level city of Jiaxing, and joined the army in September 2007. He currently holds the rank of lieutenant colonel and is a first-class pilot. Over his 14-year career, Chen has flown four types of aircraft, completing numerous missions and earning two third-class merits.
Chen's childhood dream was to become a pilot and serve his country. He passed rigorous tests in 2007, joined the aviation unit, and, after extensive training, finally achieved his dream. Chen chose to work in challenging and remote areas, using his skills to train new pilots and contribute to the development of future aviation talent.
"I am honored to participate in this airshow's flight performance. In the future, I will remain steadfast in my goals," said Chen.
