Over 500 works of art from Jiaxing have captivated visitors at the first Zhejiang Provincial Craft and Art Innovation and Design Exhibition. Traditional crafts like paper-cutting, celadon swords, and root carvings are on display, blending heritage and modern design to breathe new life into historical art forms.
Running until Dec 6, the exhibition is split into two parts: traditional crafts and innovative designs. It features four categories of creative design, including visual communication and digital art, alongside 11 categories of traditional craftsmanship like carving and embroidery.
In the Jiaxing Pavilion, silk, clay sculptures, and lanterns display the beauty of crafts. The 165 booths in the pavilion showcase over 500 works across 108 craft categories.
One of the designers of the seal carving scarf series, Dai Zhihui, and her team presented 18 creative design works, with a series of scarves that bridge silk culture with Tongxiang seal carving. Among the exhibits, a scarf named "Blessing", which features the characters for blessing in red and yellow, has been collected by the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee and the China Sports Museum.
"This exhibition has been a true eye-opener," said Zhang Yi, a resident of Jiaxing, as they admired the works. "Each piece is incredibly beautiful, allowing us to experience the unique charm of traditional crafts up close."
