In Xiuzhou district of Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, traditional Chinese medicine has taken on a modern twist, becoming stylish accessories.

From earrings and necklaces to bracelets, local pharmacist Ruan Xiaoyan transforms herbal ingredients into delicate jewelry that not only looks fashionable but also carries cultural and medicinal significance.

Ruan, head of the pharmacy department at the Jiaxing Xiuzhou District People's Hospital, carefully selects herbs like magnolia flower buds, Chinese blood vine, and rose hips that are known for their healing properties.

Within minutes, she crafts them into wearable pieces, subtly scented with the fragrance of herbs. The fusion of botanical elements with chic designs has quickly gained popularity, especially among young residents.

"Many people are unfamiliar with Chinese medicinal herbs in their daily lives," said Ruan. "By turning them into accessories, we aim to raise awareness about their benefits and connect people with traditional medicine in an engaging way," she added.

In addition to herbal accessories, the hospital has launched a "special edition" of ear acupoint bean-pressing — a therapy that stimulates pressure points in the ear to help treat conditions like insomnia or back pain.

Unlike the traditional, inconspicuous versions, these upgraded beads come with rhinestones, resembling earrings, and appealing to the younger crowd.

The new approach has sparked growing interest. Through creative reinterpretations, Xiuzhou is reshaping how traditional Chinese medicine is experienced — not just as healthcare, but as a lifestyle deeply integrated into everyday life.
