Yin Shuping, chairwoman of Goodberry Agri-Tech in Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, was recently named a recipient of the 2025 BELLA Award by the Asian Small Business Federation.
The award recognizes outstanding women in agriculture who have advanced sustainable practices.
Since relocating to Pinghu in 2021, Yin has focused on the sourcing, preserving, testing, screening, and virus-free propagation of high-quality strawberry seedlings.
Her company has drawn growing attention from buyers, with orders for strawberry seedlings mounting, even before their official release in late August. Yin said the technical support would be offered to customers along with deliveries.
Last year, she expanded her business into new markets, including Gansu and Liaoning provinces.
In Gansu, her team helped a large farm plant 3.4 million Benihoppe strawberries, providing not only top-tier seedlings, but also full-cycle planting guidance and technical support.
This integrated approach has led to big improvements in both the yield and fruit quality at partner farms.
Yin continues to innovate in a dedicated lab focused on strawberry germplasm and seedling development in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Inside the lab, rows of strawberry seedlings grow in sterile glass containers. After three to five months of cultivation, they are ready to be planted with a survival rate of over 95 percent and a potential yield increase of around 30 percent.
