Tongxiang, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has emerged as a national leader in seamless knitwear manufacturing. Local companies can now produce a fully finished garment in just 30 minutes.
At a factory operated by Qianglong Machinery, General Manager Wang Jingmin demonstrated a seamless wool sweater, emphasizing the advantages of a single step.
"Traditional wool sweaters require at least five steps, including weaving and stitching. Our method eliminates all those steps," Wang said. Using full-garment computerized flat knitting machines, Qianglong's system integrates the collar, cuffs, and body in a single process, reducing labor, time, and material waste.
Nearby, Jiaxing Yaying Fashion runs 200 Qianglong-brand machines. "Seventy of them are operating at full capacity for export orders," said Wu Dongdong, head of the company.
Wu noted that the machines performed as well as previous imported models. Switching to domestic equipment has also boosted efficiency, enabling daily production of up to 5,000 garments.
Qianglong has streamlined the design of domestic two-needle bed knitting machines and developed a dual three-system product, which is now in high demand. This innovation has helped the company maintain its top spot in nationwide sales and production of similar products for nearly three consecutive years.
