Dushangang town in Pinghu, a county-level city of Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, recently presented its rich marine heritage at a Cultural and Natural Heritage Day promotion event.

Through school partnership signings, stage performances, and a cultural market, the town demonstrated its commitment to integrating traditional culture into everyday life.

At the event, Dushangang signed cooperation agreements with one kindergarten and two primary schools. The partnerships aim to embed local intangible cultural heritage into school curriculums, inviting heritage practitioners into classrooms to lead hands-on lessons and organize related clubs and activities. The initiative seeks to bring traditional culture closer to youth and foster a new generation of cultural custodians.

A highlight of the day was a dance performance inspired by Dushangang's coastal traditions. Dancers portrayed the jubilant return of fisherwomen from sea, weaving in elements of Dujing cloth — an intangible cultural heritage textile craft from the town. Under modern stage lighting, this traditional fabric added a striking visual layer, showing how heritage can adapt to contemporary contexts.

At the intangible cultural heritage fair, visitors crafted fans and hair accessories, learning stitching techniques and traditional patterns. Participants expressed newfound appreciation for local crafts, as Dushangang continues to blend heritage with modern creativity to keep traditions.
