Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province has launched its first enoki mushroom exports, starting with a 3,360-kilogram batch from Zhejiang Huashi that was cleared by local customs and shipped to the American market.

With their high moisture content and short shelf life, enoki mushrooms require strict storage conditions and fast customs clearance. Customs officers visited the company multiple times to help streamline the process, lowering costs and improving efficiency, said Li Shiwen, general manager of Huashi. He added that the company expects to export up to 500 metric tons of enoki mushrooms annually.

Huashi integrates mushroom research, production, and sales, with enoki mushrooms as its core product. The facility produces 25,000 tons annually. The mushroom is popular because of its crisp stalk, tender cap, and rich nutritional profile, which includes proteins and amino acids.

The company ensures year-round, high-efficiency output through precise environmental controls, automated production lines, standardized operations, and intelligent monitoring systems.

To support this new export venture, Jiaxing Customs provided comprehensive guidance, which helped the company prepare registration materials, build a safety management system, and adapt to foreign inspection regulations. Measures such as priority inspections, appointment-based clearance, and digital certification issuance have accelerated customs processing in order to pave the way for more local produce to enter international markets.
