Jiaxing, located in East China's Zhejiang province, has announced a global recruitment drive for legal professionals, seeking both international and domestic experts in cross-border legal services.
The initiative aims to strengthen Jiaxing's market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment, supporting its role as a key hub in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Surrounded by Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Ningbo, Jiaxing has a long-standing commitment to openness in its development. The city acts as a pilot for cross-border e-commerce imports and hosts numerous companies expanding abroad. With increasing demand in areas such as cross-border investment, intellectual property protection, and international dispute resolution, Jiaxing views specialized foreign-related legal services as critical to its growth.
The recruitment plan outlines specific criteria, welcoming candidates with law degrees from QS World University Rankings' top 100, or from leading Chinese institutions, including recent graduates. Applicants should hold Chinese legal qualifications or licenses and possess strong foreign language and intercultural skills. Priority will be given to applicants with international legal practice experience.
To attract and retain talent, Jiaxing offers a subsidy of 20,000 yuan (about $2,811) for new lawyers after their first year of practice, with additional annual allowances and access to housing and living benefits under local talent policies.
Applications are open until Oct 31, 2025, as Jiaxing aims to build a high-quality international legal service hub, providing robust legal support for the region's openness.
