Zhejiang Qianggu Qiche began construction on Sept 20 on a project that will produce 1.55 million sets of intelligent braking systems annually. The facility is located in the Pinghu Economic Development Zone in Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province.

With an investment of 1.2 billion yuan (about $168 million), the project moved from signing to groundbreaking in less than a year, showcasing the rapid growth of Jiaxing's smart vehicle industry.

Qianggu's locally developed brake-by-wire system has challenged foreign monopolies and supplied more than one million units to major domestic carmakers. Meanwhile, Bibo (Zhejiang) is building facilities in Tongxiang, another county-level city in Jiaxing, to deliver 1 million intelligent suspension systems and 150,000 redundant steering units annually. Its "XYZ three-axis fusion technology" integrates braking, steering, and suspension to improve handling on complex road conditions.

Jiaxing's advantages lie in a mature supply chain. Pinghu has formed a complete ecosystem around braking, steering and electric drive systems, while Tongxiang is home to more than 200 enterprises covering materials, parts, complete vehicles and connected systems.

The city has also built 130 kilometers of test roads as part of a national pilot for vehicle-road-cloud integration. From January to August, the 280 enterprises in Jiaxing's new energy vehicle and parts sector generated an industrial output of 55.98 billion yuan.
