The smart e-bike produced in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has quickly sold out in the United States, highlighting the growing global demand for green mobility.
The model, designed by Urtopia (Jiaxing) in Tongxiang, a county-level city in Jiaxing, features a carbon fiber frame, a maximum speed of 32 kilometers per hour, and a range of up to 150 km. It combines pedal power with motor assistance, offering both exercise and convenience.
After initial crowdfunding success in 2021, the company expanded production in 2022 at its Jiaxing base. Early versions faced slow growth, but feedback helped shape new models launched in 2024 for the US market.
More than 500 units were tested in the US market late last year, selling out within two weeks. Current retail prices range from $1,599 to $2,799. Despite tariffs rising from 55 percent to 170 percent in April, the company continued shipments, earning praise from overseas dealers for reliability.
Urtopia now operates overseas warehouses in the US and Germany, partners with factories in Europe, and is exploring new production in Vietnam. Its products are sold in nearly 900 on-site stores worldwide, with plans to exceed 1,200 outlets by the end of 2025.
