Wuzhen Summit draws global spotlight on AI, digital cooperation
The 2025 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit concluded on Nov 9 in Wuzhen town, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, with over 1,600 participants representing more than 130 countries and regions. This year's event set a record for the highest number of attending nations, the largest exhibition scale, and the most diverse activities in its history.
The summit hosted 24 sub-forums in five major areas including development and cooperation, technology and industry, culture and society, governance and security, and artificial intelligence. Topics ranged from the digital economy and AI-driven scientific research to the digital preservation of cultural heritage.
The Light of Internet Expo focused on AI, featuring over 1,000 AI technologies from 670 companies across 54 countries and regions. More than 40 large models, 30 intelligent agents, and 20 embodied robots were unveiled, drawing over 17,000 visits in a single day. Meanwhile, the 2025 Global Internet Competition "Straight to Wuzhen" introduced an open-source track for the first time, with 71 projects — 11 from overseas — advancing to the finals.
Cultural integration also took center stage. The summit featured exhibitions where AI and XR technologies reimagined cultural icons of Jiangnan — referring to the southern regions of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River — offering immersive experiences of Chinese heritage.
During the summit, several key reports were released, emphasizing the role of digital innovation and AI governance in bridging the global digital divide.
