The 2025 World Chinese Language Conference was held in Beijing from Nov 14 to 16, gathering about 2,000 participants from more than 160 countries and regions.
During the event, Jiaxing University, East China's Zhejiang province, and Szechenyi Istvan University, Hungary, signed an agreement to jointly establish a Confucius Institute.
Jiaxing University's international presence has grown rapidly, with partnerships across 27 countries and more than 80 institutions. The Confucius Institute will build on these strengths to expand the university's global influence. With its focus on Chinese and new technology, the institute will meet Hungary's demand for bilingual technical talent amid Industry 4.0 transformation — supporting rapid technological advancement. Through a training model integrating classrooms, laboratories and enterprises, it will support talent development that combines Chinese proficiency with STEM expertise.
Backed by years of cooperation between the two universities and Jiaxing University's experience in international education, the Confucius Institute is expected to become a new platform for cultural exchange between China and Hungary and a new symbol of the university's global outreach.
