Pinghu develops emerging down jacket brands

The down jacket sector in Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has shifted from contract manufacturing to brand-driven growth in recent years.

Huishenghuise (Zhejiang), founded in 2020, is among the representatives of this new force. To improve style and quality, it has formed a dedicated design team of eight members and strengthened every stage from pattern-making to sampling, helping the brand attract both long-term domestic customers and new buyers.

Pinghu China Garment City has supported this shift by opening a designated area for original brands and launching a registration system to protect designs. The city is also developing an industrial park to offer production space and transformation services for high-quality apparel companies. More than 20 emerging down jacket brands have already taken shape, and the number continues to grow.

Pinghu does not produce down materials, but it has nonetheless become one of the country's largest down jacket manufacturing hubs thanks to its strong production base. Long-established companies have built this foundation and are now adopting intelligent manufacturing tools, including automated cutting systems and smart sewing machines. At Zhejiang Banyu Industry, template sewing machines now handle 20 to 30 percent of production, raising efficiency and lowering the skill requirements for new workers.

Innovation-driven brands are also gaining attention, with Jiaxing Dieluo's luxury ready-to-wear label, Raxxy, having appeared at international fashion weeks and been featured in major global publications, bringing Pinghu's down jacket craftsmanship to broader audiences.
