Jiaxing releases economic and social development record for 14th Five-Year Plan period
Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province recently released a comprehensive record of its economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.
Over the period, Jiaxing maintained stable economic expansion while upgrading its industrial structure. Gross domestic product exceeded 600 billion yuan ($85 billion) in 2021 and later crossed the 700 billion yuan threshold in 2023. Per capita GDP rose from 103,500 yuan in 2020 to 135,300 yuan in 2024. The city's manufacturing sector advanced steadily, with industrial output above designated size surpassing 1.5 trillion yuan.
Regional integration made tangible progress through deeper cooperation within the Yangtze River Delta region. Jiaxing strengthened cross-regional collaboration in technology, transportation, and public services. Education and healthcare cooperation with nearby cities attracted more than 1,300 senior teachers and medical professionals.
Urban-rural integration continued to advance, with the overall integration index the highest in the province. Public spending on social services increased steadily, supporting a wide range of life programs to improve residents' well-being between 2021 and 2025.
Environmental quality also improved, with surface water quality meeting top standards for three consecutive years and fine particulate matter levels remaining within national benchmarks.
Jiaxing additionally enhanced its business environment, ranking among the top 10 prefecture-level cities nationwide in business climate evaluations under China Federation of Industry and Commerce in 2024, while introducing regulatory and financial measures to support private enterprises.
