Suichang county in Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province recently organized a new round of training courses, to help locals participate in the current dramatic growth of the online new economy, local officials said.

Since the start of the year, Lishui has carried out 125 training courses on rural e-commerce – and a total of 6,358 locals have become online entrepreneurs as a result.

Thanks to the government's support for rural e-commerce, online sales of agricultural products in Lishui hit 1.28 billion yuan ($187.8 million) in the first half of the year, up 20.8 percent year-on-year.

Financial institutions have also made many innovations to support the development of rural e-commerce in the region.

Lishui's Jinyun county launched what was called an "e-commerce loan" and other financial credit products, which were welcomed by local e-commerce business owners.

Also, through the internet, Lishui Shangeng – a regional public agricultural product brand created by local government authorities in Lishui – has been sold throughout the country and officials report that it has been well received by consumers.

They added that the brand has ranked first in the list of Regional Agricultural Image Brands in China for two consecutive years.
