The Department of Commerce of East China's Zhejiang announced a list of night economy pilot cities in the province recently, according to local officials.

They said that in recognition of their developed night economies, Qingtian and Qingyuan counties administered by Lishui city made the cut.

Qingtian is well-known for its overseas Chinese culture, which has encouraged bars, coffee bars and other business forms that lifted the entertainment scene after dusk.

Officials said that Qingyuan is right up there too in after-dark action, with a rich supply of high-quality economic products and services at night. The county has to date also developed three night activity cluster areas.

Lishui will focus on the night economy as an important driver to promote consumer spending.

Officials said it will create a number of well-known after-dusk economic areas with lots of night shopping, night dining and night entertainment available.
