Lishui company becomes first in China to develop broaching machine
Zhejiang CHR Intelligent Equipment Co, based in Jinyun county of Lishui, Zhejiang province, recently became the first company in China capable of turbine disk processing after developing a new high-precision broaching machine.
Broaching machines play a crucial role in the processing of turbine disks, which are a key component of aero-engines and gas turbines. This is the first time that a company in China has managed to develop the technology.
Zhejiang CHR Intelligent Equipment Co, a company dedicated to the development of high-end machine tools, first began researching turbine disk processing broaching machines in 2008. With an investment of over 40 million yuan ($5.91 million), CHR finally made its first breakthrough this year, despite the impact of COVID-19 outbreak and the worldwide economic downturn.
"The production of turbine disks requires high precision technology, which China was previously unable to develop on its own," said Liu Zhonghua, chief engineer of the company.
According Liu, the new broaching machine, with independent intellectual property rights and over 20 patents, can replace imported models and satisfy domestic demand for turbine disk processing.
