The Guyan Huaxiang Scenic Area – situated in the city of Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province – was awarded the title "Best Culture and Tourism Integration Town in the Yangtze River Delta Region" at the 10th Yangtze River Delta Investment Development Forum on Sept 26.

Guyan Huaxiang, which literally means "ancient weir and painting town", is an idyllic district town that features Chinese-style buildings and an unblemished natural landscape.

The scenic area has been focusing on its tourism and oil painting industry in recent years. As a result, there are 108 oil painting studios and galleries in the area, which last year had an oil painting output value of 120 million yuan ($17.61 million).

In addition, at the end of 2019 Guyan Huaxiang and its surrounding areas had 168 homestay facilities with 6,972 dining seats and 2,950 beds, providing jobs for more than 2,200 local people.
