With the novel coronavirus outbreak under control, China's economy has recovered – with strong growth momentum experienced across a diverse range of industries, a trend that was fully in evidence during the recent National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, officials said.

Statistics from the Ministry of Commerce indicated that China's sales volume of key retail and catering companies reached 1.6 trillion yuan ($238.38 billion) on Oct 1-8, with the average daily sales volume increasing by 4.9 percent compared with last year's National Day golden week.

A good example of the recovery was Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province, which received 5.45 million tourists during the eight-day holiday, generating 3.46 billion yuan in tourism revenue, according to official data.

According to the city's commerce department, the sales of key industries in the city during the festival – including shopping malls and complexes, supermarkets, automobile 4S stores and hotels – recovered in an orderly way.

The Lishui auto show was held on Oct 1-3, which received nearly 40,000 visits and an average of around 700 orders were signed by each exhibitor, according to officials.

The eight-day holiday combines the National Day celebration and the Mid-Autumn Festival. It was the first long vacation for Chinese consumers since the epidemic broke out early this year.
