Xiuzhou Farmers' Painting, a local art form in Xiuzhou district, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, has gained in international popularity since it emerged in 1983.
Nearly 100 Xiuzhou painters displayed more than 300 works in foreign countries in the 1980s and 1990s. Exhibitions are also increasingly being held overseas, including an exhibition of 40 works by Xiuzhou artists in Fiji, an island country in the South Pacific region, on July 24.
The 15-day exhibition in Fiji showcased 40 paintings depicting rural scenes in Xiuzhou.

Even Hon. Rosy Akbar, Minister of Education, Heritage, and Arts of Fiji, was impressed by a painting by Miao Huixin at the opening ceremony, and invited Miao to paint a portrait of her.
The painting was a reproduction of Miao's representative work, Elder Sister, which was first unveiled at an exhibition in the National Art Museum of China in 2017.
