Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province published its public transport plans for the next 35 years on March 10, local media reported.

According to the plans, the Jiaxing Airport has mainly been functioning as a cargo airport in recent years and will begin accomodating business trips, travel, and budget airlines in the future.

Four general aviation airports are expected to be built in the city's Pinghu, Haining, Tongxiang ,and Haiyan counties.

In addition, a "three vertical and three horizontal" highway network will take shape in the city. The three vertical highways refer to the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the Changshu-Taizhou highway, and the Suzhou-Taizhou highway, while the three horizontal highways refer to the Shanghai-Jiaxing-Huzhou-Hangzhou highway, the Shanghai-Hangzhou highway, and the Hangzhou-Pudong highway.

Railways in Jiaxing will directly connect the city with major cities in the Yangtze Rive Delta. These railways include the Shanghai-Kunming highspeed railway, the Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou railway, the Shanghai-Hangzhou railway, and the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo highspeed railway.
