​Jiaxing sees stable growth in foreign trade

The imports and exports of Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province totaled 64.27 billion yuan ($10.1 billion) from January to February this year, up 22.3 percent compared with the same period last year, local media reported on April 7.

Exports were valued at 47.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.4 percent, while imports amounted to 16.74 billion yuan, up 31.2 percent year-on-year.

During this period, the city exported 24.63 billion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products, 15.76 billion yuan worth of labor-intensive products and 9.96 billion yuan worth of high-tech products, up 22.2 percent, 11.9 percent and 36 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Among the mechanical and electrical products, exports of electronic components and mechanical basic parts were valued at 4.96 billion yuan and 2.07 billion yuan, up 120 percent and 48.5 percent year-on-year, respectively.

In addition, the city's exports to RCEP member countries over this period totaled 10.76 billion yuan, an increase of 9.7 percent year-on-year and accounting for 22.6 percent of the city's total.

From January to February this year, the city's top five export markets were the European Union, the United States, ASEAN, India and Latin America. Its export volume with the top five markets was valued at 9.49 billion yuan, 9.37 billion yuan, 5.34 billion yuan, 3.4 billion yuan, and 3.26 billion yuan, respectively, up 31 percent, 9.3 percent, 7.1 percent, 140 percent and 26.5 percent year-on-year.
