The 100 percent recyclable paper cups made by Zhejiang Pando Environmental Protection and Technology Co Ltd in Changan town, Haining, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province have been making waves around the world.

The company has already sold 300 million PanoVert paper cups in foreign countries, including Switzerland, France, Italy, Australia, Holland and Spain.

The company started producing PanoVert, an environmentally friendly paper cup that does not contain polyethylene (PE), in 2021.

Normal disposable paper cups cannot be recyclable because of their PE coating. However, PanoVert paper cups use a water-based coating film, which can be completely degraded into carbon dioxide and water within 180 days, according to Shentu Xiangquan, the company's general manger.

Besides championing sustainability through its products, the company also leads by example through its waste and carbon reduction efforts. For example, its factory is powered by 100,000 square meters of solar photovoltaic panels that generate about 3 million kilowatts of electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1,000 metric tons annually.

The company also recycles leftover materials generated from the manufacturing process. One ton of waste cardboard can be recycled to produce 0.83 tons of new product packaging, thus preventing 21 trees from being cut down and saving 40 tons of water and 600 kWh of electricity.

To date, more than 10,000 tons of waste paper produced by the company has been recycled, said Shentu.
