Nine berths in the Zhapu and Dushan port areas of Jiaxing Port in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province are now open to foreign ships after passing inspection on June 10.

From January to May, the container throughput of Jiaxing Port reached 1.08 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), up 24.9 percent year-on-year.

After the expansion of the wharf, 70 percent of the offshore production berths have been opened up to foreign ships.

The number of berths open to foreign ships has increased to 37, and the handling capacity of foreign trade will increase by 80 percent, according to the official of the Jiaxing anti-smuggling and port coastal defense management and service center.

After the opening of the E4 berth of Zhapu port area, the chemical handling capacity of the area will be increased by 60 percent.

The four liquid chemical wharves of the chemical industrial park in Zhapu port area have all been opened and are expected to achieve a total throughput of over 10 million metric tons, effectively meeting the logistical needs of surrounding chemical enterprises.
