The tourism sector in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, is expected to see a revival in the summer holiday as travel restrictions due to sporadic COVID-19 outbreaks are lifted.

Interprovincial group tours have been the main focus of the city's tourism enterprises.

Meanwhile, self-driving tours and self-guided tours have been very popular recently.

"In May, the agency had almost no interprovincial travel orders, but since June, there have been four batches of interprovincial personal car trip orders, with about 80 tourists," said Chu Huiliang, general manager of China International Travel Service (Jiaxing).

According to Chu, the travel destinations for long-distance personal driving tour service products are mainly in Tibet autonomous region and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. The travel agency will provide travel services such as air tickets, train tickets, hotel booking and local travel strategies for tourists.

The opening of the world's first desert railway loop line from Xinjiang Hotan to Ruoqiang on June 16 has made Xinjiang a popular summer tourist destination this year, Chu added.

Though long-distance inter-provincial tours in the summer holiday are booming, family trips and medium and short distance trips around Jiaxing and across provinces account for the majority of tourists.
