​Jiaxing's foreign trade up 17.4% in H1

The imports and exports of Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province totaled 205.7 billion yuan ($30.41 billion) in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 17.4 percent, according to the Jiaxing Customs.

The city's exports were valued at 149.82 billion yuan, up 16.3 percent year-on-year, while imports expanded 20.4 percent to 55.88 billion yuan.

The total value of imports and exports ranked fourth in the province, export value ranked fifth, and import value ranked fourth.

In June, the city's imports and exports were valued at 41.49 billion yuan, an increase of 25.5 percent. Exports were valued at 31.05 billion yuan, an increase of 26.7 percent, while imports were valued at 10.44 billion yuan, up 22.1 percent.

In June, the city's exports increased 15.7 percent month-on-month, hitting a record high, according to Xia Xueqing, deputy director of Jiaxing Customs.

From January to June, Jiaxing Customs issued 4,469 RCEP certificates for $210 million in goods.

This year, the enterprise has applied to Jiaxing Customs for 55 preferential certificates of origin under various agreements for $836,000 in goods, and reduced the importer's tariff by about 160,000 yuan, said Ouning, general manager of Bodet Horst Textile (Jiaxing) Co Ltd.

In addition, exports to RCEP member countries were valued at 36.65 billion yuan in the first half of the year, an increase of 16.4 percent and accounting for 24.5 percent of the city's total. Exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 49.48 billion yuan, up 20.9 percent and accounting for 33 percent of the city's total.

During this period, the European Union, the United States, ASEAN, Latin America and Japan were the city's top five export markets, with exports valued at 31.39 billion yuan, 29.03 billion yuan, 18.36 billion yuan, 9.50 billion yuan and 8.06 billion yuan, respectively, up 31.7 percent, 5.6 percent, 14.7 percent, 20.8 percent and 9.6 percent.

In the same period, exports to India were valued at 7.32 billion yuan, a surge of 74.8 percent, of which exports of solar cells increased by a factor of 7.2.
