Jiaxing's Nanhu district has experienced massive changes in multiple dimensions over the past decade.

During this period, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in the district increased from 29,600 yuan ($4,162.79) to 63,800 yuan, and that of rural residents increased from 16,300 yuan to 42,800 yuan, the highest in Zhejiang province for the past 18 years.

The Nanhu Lake scenic area in the district, which houses the Red Boat where the first national congress of the Communist Party of China was convened 100 years ago, was designated as a national 5A-level scenic spot in 2011 and was included among the second batch of Zhejiang International Cultural Exchange Bases in 2022.

As the oldest city wall in Jiaxing, Zicheng was built in the Three Kingdoms (220-280), with a history of 1,790 years. In June 2021, Jiaxing Zicheng Site Park opened, vividly showcasing the city's culture and history.

Since its establishment in 2003, the Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University in Zhejiang has introduced and trained more than 1,000 high-level overseas talents for Zhejiang. It is one of the oldest and largest overseas talent introduction platforms in China.
