The 9th Wuzhen Theater Festival kicked off in Wuzhen, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province on Nov 25, according to local media reports.

On Xizha Street in Wuzhen, young drama creators and artists performed freely, turning the ancient town into a drama festivity.

This year 22 theater productions have been invited to the festival to host a total of 63 performances across Wuzhen's nine venues.

The 63 performances were divided into six sections, including "golden divide", "free for all", "complexity of one", "gravitational forces", "quantum quandary" and "perpetual motion". The names are inspired by physical terms that Meng Jinghui, one of the festival's founders, describes as "beautiful, romantic and airborne".

Markets, art exhibitions, live music performances and film screenings will also be held throughout Wuzhen town, offering novel experiences to visitors.
