Jiaxing sees recovering tourism during New Year holiday

During the three-day New Year holiday, Jiaxing's key tourist attractions and resorts had received more than 170,000 tourists, and tourist ticket revenue had exceeded 3.09 million yuan ($448,690) as of 5:00 pm on Jan 2, according to local media reports.

Surrounding and local tours were popular during the holiday.

Tourists from Hangzhou, Shanghai and other surrounding areas took road trips to Jiaxing. The city's 70 hotels achieved earned a combined 5.39 million yuan in revenue.

From Dec 31, 2022 to Jan 3, 2023, the 10th Xitang Hanfu Culture Week was held in the city. According to official statistics, the number of visitors to Xitang ancient town reached 38,300 in the first two days of the New Year holiday, an increase of 164 percent over the same period last year.

Wuzhen Scenic Area in Tongxiang launched new year activities during the holiday, which attracted 18,300 tourists in total, and ticket revenue amounted to 2.48 million yuan, an increase of more than 90 percent.

As of Jan 2, 306 onsite public cultural activities had been held in the city during the three-day holiday, receiving 49,427 participants, while 59 online public cultural activities had been held, receiving 127,017 participants.
